Focus on safer smartphone control and advanced ergonomics highlights 2015 introductions

LAS VEGAS – January 5, 2015 (SDG MEDIAWIRE) – JVC Mobile is presenting its 2015 product line at International CES, January 6-9. Booth No. 1711 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center highlights 21 new products that incorporate the latest technology and convenience benefits to create a more entertaining driving experience. Sixteen new in-dash receivers, four speakers and a subwoofer amplifier bolster an already impressive lineup of more than 60 products built to perform at any price point.

All of the new receivers replace 2014 models with tasteful, stylish design and improved ergonomics. “We wanted to simplify interaction with our receivers to allow a safer and more intuitive touch experience with each unit,” said Daniel Jones, product and marketing manager for the company’s car electronics sector. “With vehicle dashboards becoming more complex as safety and driver information features take up space and focus, we wanted to create a great-looking display and control surface that minimizes distraction.”

All touch screen-equipped models enable the user to position icons for their most-used functions according to their preference. In addition, drivers can swipe a finger on the screen to control volume and media selection on select multimedia receivers. If the vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, they can be integrated to control all new JVC receivers.

Other cosmetic and ergonomic enhancements include variable illumination to match existing dash lights and vehicle interiors, expanded displays on the CD receivers, and more direct-access buttons to minimize the steps to access highly used functions. The speakers get rakish grille treatments that visually match their audio performance.

The ability to interface with, access and control portable devices has become paramount to ensuring consumer satisfaction with the in-car audio system. JVC Mobile’s new receivers expand on their integration with Android™-based smartphones to provide a level of integration comparable to that of the iPhone®. With the JVC Music Play app, CD and Digital Media receivers can now control audio selection and playback of stored media on select Android devices through a direct USB connection. In addition, video and apps can be displayed and controlled through an MHL-supported HDMI connection on topline multimedia receivers when using JVC’s Smartphone Control app.

Apple® iPhone integration remains a strong point of JVC Mobile receivers, with support for music control over USB connection or via Bluetooth, as well as direct access to Siri Eyes Free Mode for safe, audible delivery of Web-based information. App Link Mode for iPhone puts an expanding library of compatible iPhone apps within fingertip control on multimedia receiver screens.

Fourteen of the 16 new receivers include a built-in app to access Pandora® Internet radio through a connected device, and most feature iHeartRadio™.

Enrichment of the audio performance was another goal for the 2015 line. Bluetooth technology has been upgraded to the latest profile in equipped receivers to elevate quality of phone calls and improve accuracy with voice recognition and playback. Additional equalization presets give the user more options to tailor their favorite music, and parametric equalization enables precise system tuning.

This year’s units carry over enhanced capabilities to play an ever-expanding array of audio and video formats, including Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC), which is becoming increasingly popular with audio enthusiasts. For MP3- or WMA-encoded audio, the Digital Track Expander helps to restore higher frequencies that are lost when music is compressed. FM broadcast has also been improved with a new Digital Processing Tuner that cancels out multi-path noise to ensure quality programming.

The HX line of speakers features a lighter and more flexible speaker cone and improved midrange reproduction throughout its four models, and the new, single-channel amplifier benefits from a parallel drive MOSFET power supply to improve power while maintaining linearity.

“Every year, we look at our product line, talk to our retailers, and ask ourselves what we can do to give consumers a safer, more entertaining and fulfilling time in their vehicles,” added Jones. “Our 2015 lineup is the product of the resulting feedback as well as incorporation of the latest connectivity and integration practices and protocols. We feel that our line is the best feature-for-value offering on the market.”
