Speakers are engineered for low-end clarity; new amplifier design delivers efficient power

LAS VEGAS – January 8, 2015 (SDG MEDIAWIRE) – JVC Mobile brought a fresh series of speakers and subwoofer-handling power to its booth at International CES, Jan 6-9. The HX series, which consists of 4 models, gives consumers a high-quality, factory replacement solution. The new KS-AX201 amplifier builds on proven technology to create affordable low-frequency power.

Designed to supplant most factory speakers as well as fit custom locations, the HX series drops into standard-sized openings to improve low-end performance and voice clarity. Each driver features a carbon mica cone that responds accurately to lower frequencies thanks to its lightness and flexibility. The midrange is bolstered by a pulp cone with fixed surround, and all speakers include Polyetherimide tweeters for high strength and temperature tolerance. The entire speaker is anchored by a highly responsive single-roll rubber surround.

“We are very pleased with the performance of these speakers,” said Daniel Jones, product and marketing manager for JVC Mobile. “The problem with many speakers in this range is that they don’t produce enough low end to deliver true full-range sound. The enhancements made to the HX line improve the lower part of the frequency scale while maintaining exceptional vocal range.”

The HX series comes in three sizes and two configurations. The CS-HX539 5 1/4-inch speaker (MSRP $79.95) and CS-HX639 6.5-inch speaker (MSRP $89.95) share a 3-way coaxial design and handle 230 and 250 watts peak power, respectively. The 6.5-inch CS-HX649 speaker (MSRP $99.95) is rated at 310 watts peak, and the 6×9-inch CS-HX6949 speaker (MSRP $119.95) handles 490 watts peak. Both feature a four-way coaxial configuration with an additional dome super tweeter. All models are expected to ship at the end of January.

New for 2015, the KS-AX201 is the third in a series of entry level power amplifiers, adding a mono-channel unit to the current two-channel and four-channel models. Its compact size allows it to be placed under seats or in trunk space, but its clean look is also suited for visible, custom installations.

The KS-AX201 single-channel power amplifier—rated at 500 watts peak power and 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms (250 watts RMS at 2 ohms)—is produced by a newly designed MOSFET parallel drive power supply that drives 100 amps to the output stage. A variable low-pass frequency adjustment and switchable bass boost help to tune the amplifier for optimum subwoofer performance. It will ship in January with an MSRP of $129.95.
